Out
of a scene saturated by a seemingly endless parade of bands all
looking and sounding the same, comes a fresh, new and exciting
experience. A sonic blend of attitude driven modern country, pop,
and rock & roll that will keep you entertained all night long.
But how did it all come together?
Mike
(guitar/vocals). As a senior attending John Marshall High School
in Glen Dale, West Virginia, Mike played lead guitar in the band
he co-founded with good friend Brad Paisley, who fronted the band
and played rhythm guitar. The “Wheeling West Virginians”
gained modest regional success in just two short years, but Paisley’s
departure pursuing a solo career proved to be the beginning of
the end for the band.
Jim
(bass/vocals) hails from the backstreets of Memphis, Tennessee.
Jim has been around music his whole life. His Father played slide
guitar for Blind Willie Johnson and his Mother sang backup for
Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers. It’s only natural
that Jim’s swampy, groovealicious bass lines were heard
all along Beale St. since he was only 14 years old. It’s
rumored to this day if you listen closely while walking past the
Rum Boogie Café you can still hear “Jimmy G.”
laying it down.
Chris
(drums) paid his dues (and bills) working as a session drummer
on the Nashville music scene. He recorded with a litany of artists,
namely a few are, Lonestar, Brooks & Dunn, LeAnn Rimes, Toby
Keith and Amy Grant. The Brooks & Dunn session introduced
Chris to Keith Urban, who played guitar on that session. Session
work, proving very lucrative at the time, Urban decides to stay
in America and give it a go as an artist himself. He forms “The
Ranch” asking Chris to join. The three-piece group released
one album to critical acclaim. Urban ultimately disbanded the
group to pursue a solo career.
Bill
(fiddle/mandolin) comes from Cartersville, Georgia. It’s
rumored (Bill won't confirm or deny) one foggy evening as a young
boy, Bill was sawin' on his fiddle and playin' it hot. The devil
himself jumped upon a hickory stump and challenged him to a duel.
If Bill wins he gets a fiddle made of gold, if he looses the devil
gets his soul. The devil starts the show; fire flying from his
fingertips as he rosined up his bow. Young little Bill watches,
arms crossed, rolling his eyes and yawning. To make a long story
short, Bill proceeds to absolutely annihilate the devil and his
band of demons sending them packing for the long ride home down
south. Bill still has that fiddle of gold, locked away in case
he ever needs it again.
CJ
(vocals/guitar/percussion). We all remember the morning of August
25th 2005, the day Hurricane Katrina made landfall. That day changed
CJ’s life forever. He had just returned to his hotel room
from his final performance as the lead in the off-Broadway play,
“The Great American Trailer Park.” His bags packed
and ready to get back home to Biloxi, Mississippi only to see
on the news that Biloxi had been washed away. He had lost everything,
including his band, “CJ & Crawdads” and his fishing
boat, in which the band lived. CJ remained in NYC and has since
moved on to have a very successful career in theater and television.
Nick
(guitar/banjo/vocals) comes from sunny, southern California. Nick’s
story is one we’ve all heard before, that “if only
I said YES” choice that comes around not too often. Nick
was roommates for a year with Jay DeMarcus (bassist in Rascal
Flatts). Jay was in Los Angeles trying to make it as an actor
in 2000 when he received a call that his childhood friend Gary
LeVox was in town trying to put a band together. They loved Nick’s
playing and asked him to join the band; Nick turned them down
as he was pursuing a solo career of his own at the time. Since
then Rascal Flatts has gone on to become one of the biggest grossing
musical acts since 2000.
Five
from the South, one from the West, unite in the East (New Jersey,
of all places) to bring you Stud Leroy. Like nothing you’ve
experienced before.
